This dress came about when I had a request from a friend to see if I could create something from a lovely striped Oliver Bonas dress which had lost it’s original shape in the wash. The skirt part was still looking nice and it was only the bodice that had become distorted.
I had recently bought some gorgeous Blush Pink stretch cotton and had been wondering how I would use it (it was one of those fabrics that I just had to buy despite having no real plans for it!)
When I put it with the striped fabric I loved how the two looked together so I set about working out a way to construct a dress.
I unpicked the bodice and had a look through all my patterns. I hadn’t made the Megan Dress before – but it jumped out as being the perfect style to compliment the design of the skirt portion.
I had to add a couple of darts to the skirt part – but other than that (and adding an invisible zip) I sewed up the Megan bodice and then just joined them together.
The Megan Dress is a beautiful pattern which I am sure I will be using again – and the finished dress looked lovely. You can find the pattern in Tilly’s stunning book (it’s amazing) Love at First Stitch.
I am now dreaming about other ways to combine flowers and stripes into more dresses and tops……!
