Keepsake Cushion – Precious Fabrics

The past few weeks I have been busy in-between orders… My mission was to design and make something totally unique and special that would incorporate the fabric from my daughter’s very first baby clothes.

I admit that I am a bit of a hoarder, so like many other mums I know – I had a cupboard full of old baby clothes that were too special to bin or sell. It’s just the fabrics that bring back lovely memories – and I didn’t want them hiding away in a cupboard anymore – so I set to work…

The result was this Keepsake Cushion which uses 12 different items of Eleanor’s baby clothes. All of which I can recall buying or getting as gifts. I remember when she wore them and where we went. The little cat fabric was from the very first pink baby grow she ever wore (I brought one pink and one blue into the hospital not knowing that I was having a girl).

This cushion features the fabrics made into roses and stitched in place on the cushion – in a heart shape. They are 3D – so stand proud from the main cushion cover. The heart buttons are Mother of Pearl.

The reverse has a beautiful embroidered heart – with her full name. The heart is baby pink for a girl – but can of course it can be baby blue – or any other colour you choose. Although these cushions seem very girly, they would be equally as effective for baby boys – since they are really a keepsake for the home rather than something you would find in a children’s bedroom.

The fabric on the reverse looks like a newspaper print at first glance – but in-fact it contains lots of lovely quotes that are really meaningful and relevant to growing up to be the best that you can be.

I can make up this cushion using an old baby blanket or any other fabrics you can think of that hold special meaning for someone.

The cushion cover opens with a concealed zipper at the base edge and the cushion pad is made up of organic cotton fabric which is further made with cotton produced through organic farming. The pad is filled with fine quality microfibre filling.

I would need 12 pieces of fabric aprox 20x20cm minimum – or enough to get 12 out of a larger panel. Of course all fabric would need to be cut out to achieve the roses… so please be sure that you are happy for me to do that. Any remaining fabric will be returned to you with your completed Cushion.

These Cushions are priced at £75 + Special Delivery postage in the UK (please ask for an exact quote). For orders outside the UK please ask for a postage quote.

If you are interested in these cushions and wish to discuss a possible order – email me and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

I hope you like this cushion… I think it is something that can be treasured for years to come.
