Heading to big school!

Following my page featuring a Hearts version for my daughter – I am now really excited to showcase another alternative. This one features Stars! It might be more suited to boys uniform.

I really wanted to sew something very special for my friend’s son, Ross… Something that he could always keep and treasure forever.

I looked at the market for school uniform keepsake cushions and realised I wanted to do something a little bit different. It was important to me that I incorporated all the special little tiny details of the fabrics of his school uniform. But more than that I wanted it to be a really lovely cushion in its own right. Something that looks really cool and then when you get close to it you realise it is made from the school uniform. I also wanted to make sure it included his name, the schools name and the dates and I decided to add this to the back so that the front area could be mostly displayed. I chose not to use the school logo too much and just added a snippet of this as a little token. I love the way it’s there but just subtle.

Here is a list of all the uniform items that I used:

Of course each cushion that I make will be completely unique and special as it will incorporate uniform which is personal to the child. If you live locally you can drop the uniform items off. Otherwise You can post the uniform to me. Once the cushion is made the remaining uniform will be recycled unless you specifically want it returned to you.

The cushions are priced at £75 each (plus Special Delivery postage, or collect if you are local). They are double sided as shown and have several layers of interfacing to give a thick luxury feel. The cushion cover opens with a zipper at the base edge and the cushion pad is made up of organic cotton fabric which is further made with cotton produced through organic farming. The pad is filled with fine quality microfibre filling and is fully washable. The cover is careful sponge clean only.
